Carer and Concession Ticket Access Card Requirement

At Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World, we are committed to ensuring that all visitors, regardless of ability, have an enjoyable and accessible experience. To enhance fairness and inclusivity, we have partnered with Nimbus Disability, the organization behind the internationally recognized Access Card scheme.

As part of this initiative, all concession tickets and free carer tickets must now be applied for through Nimbus Disability’s online portal (here). We advise this is done at least a week before your visit. This change allows us to provide a fair and consistent process for all visitors who require additional support when visiting the zoo.

Requirements:

Free carers tickets will require an Access +1 or +2 card (unless you are visiting from a care home or similar in which case your organisations ID will suffice).

Concession tickets will require any Access Card (unless you are visiting from a care home or similar).

Wheelchair Users will require a Wheelchair User Access Card or <50m Access Card (unless you are visiting from a care home or similar).

Assistance Dogs will require an Assistance Dog Access Card – please see below for a map on where Assistance Dogs are allowed. Assistance Dogs cannot access either our Hoo-Rassic World or Land of the Beasts sections due to the proximity to our Wolf and Lynx Habitats.

We understand that changes like these can take some adjustment, but we truly believe this is a step forward in making our attraction more welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone. By streamlining the application process, we aim to ensure that those who need assistance can receive it without any barriers.

For more details on the scheme and how to apply, please visit https://app.accesscard.online/apply/hoo-zoo-and-dinosaur-world/form/.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue working towards a more accessible and inclusive experience for all our visitors.

Hoo Zoo is relatively flat with no large undulations or slopes but the pathways are gravel and can be difficult for some wheelchair users.

We have limited disabled car parking so we advise arriving early to avoid disappointment.

Disabled toilets are available in our main toilet block.

We have both ECV scooters and child strollers available for hire. These must be booked online here.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance Dogs will require an Assistance Dog Access Card . We do require all assistance dogs to be well behaved and on leads at all times. Any barking dogs will be asked to leave – this is because we have animals on site that were rescued from situations including dog attacks. Any mess must be picked up by the dog owner.

For the safety of our animals and the safety of your dog, there are certain areas that assistance dogs are not allowed. These are laid out below – any pathways beyond the ‘No Dog’ symbol are not accessible by assistance dogs. This includes Hoo-Rassic World and Land of the Beasts as they are situated past our Wolf and Lynx habitats and any walkthrough animal habitats.
